Learning Recommendations: Successful completion of Studio Art 2.

General Description: Studio Art 3 is designed for serious art students who have demonstrated both basic and advanced art skills in Studio Art 1 and 2. This course focuses on refining students' abilities in two-dimensional media, including drawing and painting. Students will explore a wide range of media such as graphite, charcoal, ink, pastels, watercolor, acrylic paint, printmaking, and mixed media. The course emphasizes the elements of art and principles of design while encouraging the development of a personal artistic style.

Content: 

  • Advanced technical skills in drawing and painting
  • Application of the elements and principles of design to 2D artmaking
  • Exploration of various artists and art movements
  • Projects may include still life, portraiture, landscape, and perspective drawings/paintings

Homework: Students should expect 1-3 hours of homework per week, typically to finish larger projects, research, and planning.
