Learning Recommendations: Successful completion of Studio Art 1, 2, 3.

General Description: Studio Art 4 builds on the skills learned in Studio Art 3. We’ll explore drawing, painting and printmaking through fun challenges, unexpected materials, and projects. Studio Art 3 and 4 can be taken for a full year Art credit.

Content:

  • The course focuses on creating original artworks that demonstrate advanced understanding and use of the elements and principles of art.
  • Students will progress through a variety of classroom assignments by responding to prompts that will inspire students to advance their techniques, concepts, and individualized style. Students will engage in self-directed projects, refining their techniques, concepts, and artistic expression.
  • Students will keep a sketchbook where they document their creative process. This class will also help prepare students for taking Advanced Placement Studio Art.

Homework: Students should plan for 1-3 hours of homework per week, typically involving project completion, research for references, and sketching project ideas.
