Learning Recommendations: Completion of Photography 1 and Photography 2

General Description: Photography 3 is an advanced course designed for students who are serious about photography and wish to pursue it as a potential career. This course builds on the skills learned in Photography 1 and 2, encouraging students to refine their techniques and develop their own photographic style. Students will engage in portfolio building, advanced editing techniques, and conceptualization of their images. There are opportunities for career exploration in photography-related fields, including research and portfolio preparation for college applications.

Content: 

  • Advanced photography techniques, post-processing, and printing
  • Portfolio and resume building for college/career
  • Critiques and presentations
  • Local gallery, museum, and college visits
  • Researching photography careers and colleges
  • Mock interviewing and career exploration

Homework: Students are expected to take 5-25 photos per week, primarily outside of class, while working toward personal photographic goals and building their portfolios.

Course Fees / Materials: Digital cameras and Adobe CC are provided.
