Learning Recommendations: Completion of Theater Arts 1 is recommended.

General Description: Theatre Arts 2 builds upon the foundational skills learned in Theatre Arts 1, focusing on advanced techniques in acting, directing, and playwriting. Students will explore script analysis, scene development, and directing, while also studying key periods in theatre history, such as Elizabethan, Modern, and Musical theatre traditions. This course offers opportunities to create original scripts, direct scenes, and work collaboratively with peers to bring their creative visions to life.

Content: 

  • Advanced scene work: script analysis, acting, and performance
  • Directing: planning and directing scenes with peers
  • Theatre history: Elizabethan, Modern, and Musical theatre traditions
  • Playwriting: character development, conflict resolution, and editing scripts

Homework: Homework includes reading, memorization, and occasional group projects. Most work is completed in class, but additional time outside of class may be required for scene preparation or project completion.
