Learning Recommendations: A strong interest in law or related fields, as indicated by Xello data or prior coursework in business or social studies.

General Description: This course offers an introduction to the principles and practices of business law, providing students with a foundational understanding of the legal system and its applications in business contexts. It prepares students for further studies in law and equips them with skills relevant for careers in business and legal fields.

Content: 

  • Fundamentals of the legal system, including the role of courts and legal procedures.
  • Key areas of business law, such as contracts, property law, employment law, and consumer protection.
  • Ethical considerations and the impact of laws on business operations.
  • Case studies and real-world scenarios to analyze legal concepts in action.
  • Development of critical thinking and legal reasoning skills.

Homework: Students should expect to spend approximately 2-3 hours per week on reading, case analysis, and assignments. Participation in DECA Competition may add to the workload during certain parts of the year.

Course Fees / Materials: Course fees may apply

Note: All students are provided DECA membership and may choose to take an active role in DECA conferences. These conferences provide students with the opportunity to travel and meet students from Washington State and throughout the United States. If students choose to participate in these events, additional costs will be incurred.
