AP Computer Science A - COM600/COM601

Learning Recommendations: Successful completion of Algebra 1 or equivalent.

General Description: Designed to prepare students to take the College Board AP Computer Science A exam, this challenging class is for those students who are interested in an in-depth course in computer programming.

Advanced Placement Computer Science A is equivalent to high school mathematics, if the student is currently enrolled in Algebra 2, or successfully completed Algebra 2. This course qualifies for a math-based quantitative course for students who take the course in their senior year. AP Computer Science A qualifies for equivalency in either mathematics credit or a science credit.

Homework: 45 minutes per day or 180-220 minutes per week.

Note: 

  • Students choosing to take the optional AP exam associated with this course must register in the fall, and must pay the AP exam fee. The dollar amount for AP exam fees vary each year. Scholarships are available to students who qualify.
