English Language Development: Entering - EN102A/B

Learning Recommendations: Placement based on English proficiency assessment; suitable for Multilingual Learners (MLL) at Level 2.

General Description: This course supports Multilingual Learners in developing foundational proficiency in English, emphasizing essential skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing. Designed to facilitate the rapid acquisition of language skills, the course also familiarizes students with U.S. cultural contexts to aid in both social and academic integration. 

Content: 

  • Intensive practice in listening and speaking for communication in academic and everyday contexts
  • Instruction in reading comprehension and foundational vocabulary development
  • Structured lessons in basic English grammar, including verb tenses and sentence structure
  • Writing exercises to build sentence and paragraph skills
  • Cultural awareness activities to understand U.S. customs and diverse perspectives

Homework: Light to moderate; approximately 1-2 hours per week, focused on vocabulary practice, reading assignments, and completing writing exercises.
