Learning Recommendations: C- or better in Spanish 1. Retention of Spanish 1 vocabulary and grammar concepts.

General Description: Spanish 2 builds upon the skills learned in Spanish 1, continuing the development of listening, speaking, reading, and writing skills. Students will engage in more advanced conversation, grammar, and cultural studies. Communication will primarily be in Spanish, with English used only when necessary for complex topics. The course will use the Descubre 2 textbook and online workbook for all materials and assignments.

Content:

  • Vocabulary: Building on foundational vocabulary from Spanish 1 and adding new topics, such as travel, health, and daily routines.
  • Grammar: Introduction of new grammatical structures such as past tense (preterite and imperfect), object pronouns, and reflexive verbs, while reinforcing previously learned concepts.
  • Culture: Expanded exploration of Spanish-speaking cultures, including traditions, holidays, and daily life.
  • Communication: Students will engage in conversations, write essays, and present information on various everyday life topics.

Homework: Students can expect to spend approximately 1-2 hours per week on homework, including online workbook activities and vocabulary/grammar study.
