Learning Recommendations: C- or better in Spanish 2. Retention of Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 vocabulary and grammar concepts. Willingness to communicate exclusively in Spanish.

General Description: Spanish 3 continues to develop students' proficiency in Spanish by building upon the skills learned in Spanish 1 and Spanish 2. This year-long course focuses on expanding vocabulary, improving grammatical accuracy, and developing conversational fluency. Students will engage in listening, speaking, reading, and writing activities, with class instruction conducted almost entirely in Spanish. This course prepares students to communicate effectively in various real-life contexts and enhances their understanding of Spanish-speaking cultures.

Content:

  • Vocabulary: Ongoing vocabulary acquisition
  • Grammar: Advanced grammatical concepts such as subjunctive mood, compound tenses, and complex sentence structures.
  • Communication: Focus on extended conversations, writing compositions, and reading authentic Spanish texts.
  • Culture: Exploration of Spanish-speaking countries and their customs, traditions, and perspectives.

Homework: Students are expected to spend approximately 2-3 hours per week on vocabulary review, grammar practice, and assignments from the Descubre 3 textbook and online workbook.
