American Sign Language 4 (Semester 2) - FOR532

Learning Recommendations: Successful completion of American Sign Language 3, or equivalent. *Seniors who have completed ASL 1 and 2 may take concurrently with ASL 3.

General Description: Deaf Studies will focus on Deaf history, culture, and controversies. Language learning will take place-framed through learning about the Deaf community.

Content: Students will learn in-depth about:

  • Deaf history from the 17th century
  • Cultural norms of the Deaf community
  • Modern issues facing the community

Homework: Expect 30-60 minutes of homework per day.
