General Description: In this elective course the team produces the school yearbook. Students must be self-starters, able to work in teams, be conscious of quality control, and will be held to real life factory deadlines. Coverage includes basic photography, interviewing techniques, copywriting, captioning, page layout and design. Emphasis is on accurate and fair coverage of the school year. Significant work beyond the regular school day is required.

Content: 

  • Layout and design using Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop software
  • Writing copy, captions, and headlines
  • Libel and copyright issues
  • Digital Photography
  • Publicity

Homework: Students will be required to attended selected school events including but not limited to sporting events, concerts, club meetings, and spirit week events.

Equipment to be provided by Student: None. All equipment provided.

Note: 

  • This course counts as a fine art credit for graduation but may not meet the four-year college admissions requirement for Fine/Visual/Performing Arts.
  • Students who complete this course may qualify for college credit at various community and technical college programs. For more information, please visit the CTE Dual Credit page.
