Introduction to Engineering Design - IN435A/B

Learning Recommendations: None.

General Description:  In this project-based course, math, science, and engineering technology are integrated to teach students a problem solving design model and how it is used in industry to design and manufacture a product. Students learn how to apply this model to improve existing products and invent new ones. Using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software, students develop 3D solid modeling skills as they design, communicate, and evaluate product designs. Emphasis is placed on innovation and communicating ideas to others.

Content:

  • 3D solid modeling skills using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software
  • Engineering graphics concepts and terminology
  • Product design and innovation
  • Communication

Homework: Homework will be assigned as needed for practice and review.

Equipment to be provided by Student: None.
