Police Science/Forensics 1 - INT475

Learning Recommendations: An interest in crime scene investigation methods, problem-solving, and teamwork.

General Description: Have you ever wondered how realistic your favorite crime show is when compared to actual forensics?  This course will teach you the basics of crime scene analysis, evidence collection and preservation, and specific techniques used for Forensic Experts!  Bring a critical mind and a willingness to try new things! This course covers a number of methods in forensic science that are used to solve crimes. The class is taught through direct instruction, videos and “hands on” practical applications. Students will learn how to process a crime scene just like the experts and also gain an understanding of the analysis and processing of physical evidence such as fingerprints, shoeprints, and eyewitness accounts, and criminal profiling. Students will examine the legal processes from investigation through the presentation of evidence for a criminal trial.

Due to this being a CTE course, the class will also focus on employable attributes.  So, treat your time in class as if you were at the workplace office.  Practice behaviors that will keep you employed!
