Learning Recommendations: Registration in this course is by determined by Individualized Education Program (IEP) team. Student must have an IEP qualification and a recommendation from their Case Manager.

General Description: This structured support class helps students develop study skills and complete assignments while reinforcing math, reading, and writing strategies used in general education courses. Emphasis is placed on applying writing skills, using a planner effectively, and building self-advocacy skills for success in academic settings. Grades are based on assignment completion, attendance, and participation. This elective course is available to students in the Resource Program (IEP).

Content: 

  • Study skills instruction and academic support
  • Reading, writing, and math strategies aligned with general education coursework
  • Use of planners for organization and time management
  • Development of self-advocacy skills
  • Assignment completion and academic accountability

Homework: Students should bring assignments and projects from their general education classes to work on during this class.

Course Fees / Materials: Approximately $8.00 for a school planner. Financial assistance is available if needed.
