Leadership for ASB Officers - LD300A/B

Learning Recommendations: Open to students elected or appointed to an ASB office or directorship, including ASB Executive Officers, commissioners, and Class Council Presidents or Vice Presidents.

General Description: This hands-on, project-based course prepares student leaders to positively impact their school and community through planning, implementing, and evaluating various initiatives. Students learn leadership theory, discover their own leadership styles, and develop skills in communication, organization, and team management. The course fosters personal growth and community engagement through activities that extend beyond the classroom.

Content: 

  • Development of effective communication and public speaking skills
  • Project planning, organization, and evaluation, with a focus on school-wide and community events
  • Team-building, goal-setting, and time management techniques
  • Exploration of leadership theory and self-awareness to refine individual leadership styles
  • Understanding group dynamics and serving as effective role models
  • Engagement in service leadership, networking, and community relations

Homework: Primarily project-based; students are expected to participate in and manage aspects of projects during and outside of class time, including before- and after-school events.
