Geometry - MT200A/B

Learning Recommendations: Passed Algebra 1.

Students who did not pass Algebra 1 must retake Algebra 1 as it is required for graduation by the state of Washington. Students who received a D+ or D in Algebra 1 and plan to take Algebra 2 after Geometry should consider retaking Algebra 1 for grade and learning improvement.

Students who earned a C- or below in Algebra 1 or those wanting additional support are strongly encouraged to enroll concurrently in both Geometry AND Geometry Lab.

General Description: This standard level course focuses on the High School Geometry State Standards. In this course students will learn geometric relationships and problem solving with geometry. This course provides hands-on practical learning for using math in real-life situations. This course integrates regular review of Algebra 1 skills to ensure students are prepared for their next course of study.

Students successfully passing this course would progress to Algebra 2 or an elective that supports their High School and Beyond Plan.

Students who wish to take Advanced Algebra 2 next must take Advance Geometry. See the ISD web site to learn more about options after students complete Geometry to determine if this course best supports your High School and Beyond Plan.

Content: Critical areas include, but are not limited to:

  • Congruence and similarity
  • Constructions
  • Three-Dimensional Problem Solving
  • Modeling
  • Algebra 1 review

Homework: Daily coursework not completed in class must be completed at home. The daily coursework can vary up to 35 minutes, depending on the student's math knowledge and class time usage. The intent of daily coursework is for practice and feedback, not necessarily for assessing skill. Students typically review the daily coursework in class the next day.
