Learning Recommendations: 'B' or higher in both semesters of Pre-SL Math. Completion of Pre-SL Math to be eligible for the IB exam.

General Description: IB Math Analysis and Approaches SL (IB Math SL) is the final year of a two-year sequence that prepares students for the IB Standard Level (SL) Math exam in May. This course provides an overview of topics typically covered during the first two quarters of college calculus and additional IB required topics. It is designed for students who wish to complete an IB math class as part of a well-rounded high school experience.

Content:

  • Limits and continuity
  • Derivatives
  • Applications of derivatives, including related rates, motion, and optimization
  • Curve analysis
  • Indefinite and definite integrals
  • Fundamental Theorem of Calculus
  • Volumes of solids of revolution
  • Probability distributions including the normal curve
  • 2D and 3D geometry

Homework: Regular assignments to reinforce classroom learning and practical applications.
