Learning Recommendations: Membership by audition only, based on musical ability, instrumentation needs, and student dedication.

General Description: The Evergreen Philharmonic is a year-long elective full symphony orchestra for accomplished musicians. With a focus on professional symphonic repertoire, the course prioritizes rehearsal technique and performance preparation. Known for its rigorous schedule, the orchestra presents numerous concerts, participates in invitational clinics, and a recording session. Students are expected to demonstrate a high level of commitment, attending required Friday district rehearsals.

Content: 

  • Performance of advanced symphonic literature from the standard professional repertoire
  • Development of ensemble and sectional rehearsal skills
  • Opportunities for chamber music and small group performances
  • Exposure to music theory and stylistic understanding relevant to the repertoire

Homework: Approximately one hour of private practice per night, with supplemental assignments from private instructors when applicable.

Course Fees / Materials: Course fee of $50 applies for transportation. ASB card. Concert attire and instrument rental fees may apply. Celli and basses are available to rent for school use; students provide their own for home practice.
