General Description: Vocal Jazz Ensemble is a year-long elective for musicians interested in jazz and small ensemble performance. This performance ensemble is selected through auditions and includes vocalists and rhythm section instrumentalists (piano, guitar, bass, drums, etc.) The ensemble performs extensively, with concerts, community events, and festivals throughout the year, often during the school day.

Content: 

• Students perform a variety of jazz, contemporary, and classical styles
• Development of individual vocal technique, music literacy, and aural skills
• Preparation for local and regional jazz festivals, concerts, and community performances

Homework: Homework related to performance of a variety of music styles, individual vocal technique, music literacy, and aural skills.
