Learning Recommendations: None; this course is designed for students with no prior piano experience.

General Description: Beginning Piano is a semester-long elective designed for students new to piano. This course focuses on reading music, building chords, and learning foundational piano technique. Each student will have an individual keyboard and headphones for hands-on practice, fostering independent learning and skill development.

Content: 

  • Music reading skills, covering melody, chords, and rhythm
  • Basic music theory concepts and technique aligned with piano playing

Homework: All practice and assignments are completed in class; no outside practice is required.

Course Fees / Materials: Course fees may apply; students should bring personal earbuds/headset for use with the keyboard. Financial assistance is available if needed.
