Learning Recommendations: Suitable for students seeking an entry-level PE course.

General Description: This choice-based PE course provides students with the opportunity to participate in a variety of physical activities, selecting from two options every three weeks for a personalized fitness experience. The course focuses on developing skills, fostering sportsmanship, and enhancing fitness through both team and individual activities suited to diverse interests and abilities.

Content:

  • Activity units may include:
    • Team sports: tchoukball, volleyball, basketball, floor hockey, ultimate Frisbee
    • Individual and racquet sports: archery, pickleball, badminton, tennis
    • International sports: soccer, Gaelic football, rugby
    • Fitness-focused activities: dance, yoga, weight training, CrossFit, powerlifting
  • Emphasis on rules, strategies, skill development, and sportsmanship
  • Regular cardiovascular exercises, with a culminating 5km run
  • Flexible unit selection based on student preference and interest

Homework: None; all activities and assessments are conducted during class.

Course Fees / Materials: Optional purchase of a PE T-shirt ($8 for cotton, $10 for performance); students may alternatively bring their own athletic clothing. Financial assistance is available if needed.
