Learning Recommendations: Grade of C or better in any General Physical Education class.

General Description: This one-semester course is designed for students interested in dance, conditioning, and body alignment. The class focuses on ballet and other dance styles as a way to improve overall fitness, including flexibility, strength, endurance, and coordination. Dance is introduced as a comprehensive fitness activity, supporting cardiovascular health and core strength in a low-impact setting. This course may be repeated for additional credit.

Content: 

  • Dance techniques and body conditioning for posture and alignment
  • Daily participation in activities such as dance routines, cardio exercises, flexibility, and core training
  • Observation and analysis of dance performances, with skills and written assessments
  • Opportunities to create and perform group choreography

Homework: Minimal; occasional assignments related to dance technique or fitness.

Course Fees / Materials: Athletic clothing and shoes required; PE shirt recommended.
