Learning Recommendations: Students should be prepared to critically read and write about global geography, politics, economics, society, and history. This course is taught in a block with Literary Analysis & Composition 1 (Block).

General Description: World History (Block) is a year-long Social Studies course that is a study of the geography, politics, economics, society, social changes, and history of the world while integrating with the 9th grade English curriculum. This course explores world history from approximately 1450-1950. The course focuses on critical thinking, essay writing, note taking, research, and other relevant skills.

Content: The course covers the following topics:

  • Patterns of Geography and Trade
  • Revolutions
  • Imperialism and Resistance
  • World War I
  • The Interwar Years
  • World War II

Homework: Homework will be assigned at the teacher's discretion and is expected to be minimal with effective time management.
