Learning Recommendations: This course is required for graduation for students who have not taken Washington State History in 7th or 8th grade.

General Description: Washington State History is a state-required course that explores the history, geography, and economy of Washington State. The course covers Native American cultures, the development of Washington Territory through statehood, and contemporary issues in the region, including trade with Pacific Rim nations. This course is designed to fulfill the Washington State History & Government graduation requirement.

Content: The course covers the following units:

  • Geography and Geology of Washington State
  • Expansion of Washington State
  • Roads to Statehood
  • 20th Century Washington State
  • Contemporary Washington State

Homework: Homework will be assigned as needed to reinforce classroom learning.
