General Description: This course is designed to help students understand the structure of U.S. government and their role as engaged citizens. Students will study the foundations of American government as outlined by the U.S. Constitution, civil rights and liberties, public opinion, and political behavior. The course also examines the responsibilities of citizenship, the electoral process, and current issues, with students expected to apply course material to topics of personal interest.
