Learning Recommendations: An interest in learning about the Criminal Justice system.  This Fall semester course focuses on Law Enforcement and major challenges and  faced by federal, state and local agencies.

General Description: The course will expose students to many aspects of the criminal justice system including federal, state, and local law enforcement procedures.  Specific focuses are integrated into the curriculum to relate to current events and recent developments in the field. Students will be involved in activities intended to promote individual leadership skills as well as collaboration, career exploration, occupational skills awareness, and critical thinking.  The Criminal Justice course is enriched with guest speakers from police departments, courts, corrections, and other agencies representing a broad spectrum of subjects and issues.

  • Ethics in Law Enforcement
  • Roles and Responsibilities of a Law Enforcement Officer
  • Constitutional Law
  • Criminal Procedure:  Arrest/Search/Seizure
  • Contemporary Issues in Law Enforcement
  • Nature & Causes of Crime: Criminology

Homework: Homework is not assigned. Assignments not completed in class may need to be completed after class.  On average, students will have between 2 and 5 in class assignments per week, not including daily warm ups.

Additional Information: Students who complete both Criminal Justice 1 and SST506 - Criminal Justice 2 with a B average may qualify for college credit through CTE Dual Credit programs at Bellevue College.
