General Description: Algebra 1 Lab provides a support structure for students who want additional help to achieve success in the Algebra 1 course. The lab course offers  support reviewing pre-Algebra math skills and knowledge, provides further explanation of the math taught in Algebra 1, provides extra practice to build fluency and confidence in new math skills, reviews previously learned concepts, and previews upcoming material to set students up for success. Students must be concurrently enrolled in an Algebra 1 course.

Content: This course follows the concepts taught in Algebra 1, reinforcing and supporting the Algebra 1 curriculum.

General Description: Algebra 2 Lab provides a support structure for struggling students to achieve success in an Algebra 2 course. This lab class will provide additional explanation, extra practice, and review of previously learned concepts, as well as previews of upcoming material and preparation for tests and quizzes. Students must be concurrently enrolled in an Algebra 2 course.

Geometry Lab - MT204A/B

Learning Recommendations: Current enrollment in Geometry is required.  Recommended for students who struggled with previous math courses and would benefit from additional help in Geometry.

General Description: Geometry Lab provides a support structure for students who want additional help to achieve success in the Geometry course. The lab course offers  support reviewing algebra and prior geometry math skills and knowledge, provides further explanation of the math taught in Geometry, provides extra practice to build fluency and confidence in new math skills, reviews previously learned concepts, and previews upcoming material to set students up for success. Guided Studies - WGS100

Learning Recommendations: None.

General Description: Guided Studies offers students a structured environment to develop essential study and organizational skills while receiving support to complete homework and assignments. The course emphasizes self-awareness as a learner, the use of planners and notebooks for organization, and reading strategies. Students also work on self-advocacy skills needed for success in general education classes. Grading is based on participation, assignment completion, and progress in other classes. This course is ideal for students who need help staying organized and completing assignments.

A business simulation is used at the end of the semester to aid students in synthesizing and applying their learning.

General Description: This survey course is focused on teaching the principles and logic behind how most programming languages work. This is done through hands-on work that often requires creative thinking. This class requires no previous experience programming, but it does require hard work, flexibility, puzzle-solving, and most importantly: a self-starting positive attitude!  Students who have completed computer science courses in middle school are encouraged to take AP Computer Science Principles.

Students will also learn appropriate and ethical uses of AI relevant to this course. Whether you're an artist, designer, programmer, marketer, entrepreneur, or just interested in the Internet, websites are a fantastic and flexible modern medium that this course will teach you how to create.

General Description: Designed to prepare students to take the College Board AP Computer Science A exam, this challenging class is for those students who are interested in an in-depth course in computer programming.

Advanced Placement Computer Science A is equivalent to high school mathematics, if the student is currently enrolled in Algebra 2, or successfully completed Algebra 2. This course qualifies for a math-based quantitative course for students who take the course in their senior year. AP Computer Science A qualifies for equivalency in either mathematics credit or a science credit.

AP Cybersecurity - CO610A/B

Learning Recommendations: Familiarity with file management and basic computer skills is required. Completion of Introduction to Computer Science (high school) or Computer Science Discoveries (middle school) is recommended.

General Description: AP Cybersecurity offers a broad introduction to the field and aligns closely with a college-level, introductory cybersecurity course. Students learn about common threats and vulnerabilities and how they combine to create risk. Students study how individuals and organizations manage risk and how risk can be mitigated through a defense-in-depth strategy. Students explore specific vulnerabilities, attacks, mitigations, and detection measures across a variety of domains including physical spaces, computer networks, devices, and data and applications. Throughout the course, students consider the impact of cybersecurity on individuals, organizations, societies, and governments.

Video Game Design with Unity and C# - IN252A/B

Learning Recommendations:  Completion of an introductory computer science course or strong independent programming experience is recommended.

General Description: Video Game Design with Unity and C# is an advanced course for students interested in programming and game development. This class provides hands-on experience in creating video games using Unity, a leading game design tool, and programming with C#. Students will learn game design principles, development workflows, and teamwork skills essential for professional environments. The course emphasizes creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration through solo and group projects.

Content: 

The course built on four main pillars:

• Programming: Learning C# and Unity for game development.

General Description: This course allows students who have completed AP Computer Science A to continue expanding and deepening their knowledge and understanding of computer science through student-chosen projects. The primary component of the course will be the completion of one or more significant projects chosen and designed by small student groups. Lessons will also be given on certain advanced topics as well as software engineering and project management skills.

General Description: Marine Biology is a laboratory course that fulfills a science requirement for graduation and meets the lab-based science course criteria for college entrance requirements as outlined by the Washington Student Achievement Council. This course uses the McGraw Hill textbook "Marine Biology," which is utilized in both high school and college settings. General Description: This course is designed to be the equivalent of an introductory college course in environmental science. The goal of AP Environmental Science is to provide students with the scientific principles, concepts, and methodologies required to understand the interrelationships of the natural world. Students planning to pursue AP Spanish or further language studies are encouraged to enroll in this course.

Course Description: Semester A

In AP Spanish Language and Culture, students will use the three modes of communication – interpretive, interpersonal, and presentational – as defined by the World Readiness Standards for Learning Languages. Using the ACTFL Performance Descriptors for Language Learners, students will be provided opportunities to demonstrate their proficiency in each of the three modes. Each module is theme-based, providing ample opportunities to interpret written, print, visual, audiovisual, and audio text; speak with and write to others; and present by speaking and writing for an audience.

Literature & Creative Writing - ENG525

Learning Recommendations: Must be a junior or senior. Students should be prepared to analyze literature both verbally and in writing, and be willing to use their creativity to produce written work and share it with peers.

General Description: This senior English elective is designed to facilitate students' creative and imaginative thinking and writing skills. Students will write non-fiction, fiction, poetry, and drama, developing their skills through various writing projects. The course emphasizes literary elements such as description, characterization, setting, conflict and plot, dialogue, diction, and poetic devices. Students will engage in all steps of the writing process, focusing primarily on writing.

Content:

• Writing various genres and styles, including poems, vignettes, short stories, and one-act plays
• Analyzing various fictional, non-fictional, and poetic writings for modeling and instructional purposes
• Developing creative writing skills using literary elements such as description, characterization, setting, conflict and plot, dialogue, diction, and poetic devices

Students will develop and refine interviewing and journalistic writing skills and learn to set goals and meet deadlines in a real production setting. These skills will be applied to the publication of the school's news source. The class operates at a rigorous pace.

Content: The course covers various aspects of journalism, including:

Active daily participation and regular writing assignments are designed to engage students and improve their understanding and confidence with this rich and challenging material.

Content:

• Possible texts include Twelfth Night, A Midsummer Night's Dream, The Taming of the Shrew, Othello, and a number of sonnets.
• Students are required to memorize and recite lines in a final scene performance.
