Kindergarten Registration for 2026-27 School Year!

It’s Kindergarten Registration season! The Issaquah School District is now open for the 2026–27 school year, including applications from families who live outside our district boundaries.

If your child will be 5 years old by August 31, 2026, it’s time to register for kindergarten. Explore open enrollment options and learn how to apply.

Superintendent Tow-Yick in the hallway of Cougar Mountain Middle School

Superintendent Heather Tow-Yick begins her June 2026 update by celebrating upcoming graduations and transition ceremonies while highlighting a wave of recent district accolades. On the operational side, the district achieved a clean financial audit, a state award for culturally inclusive food services, and a consecutive Exceptional Results Award for the Transportation team. Academically, 10 schools were recognized for student growth, while individual honors went to graduating student representative Ava Datta, Dr. Sharine Carver for inclusionary practices, and Youth Eastside Services for mental health partnership. Finally, Superintendent Tow-Yick previews the upcoming school year through the refreshed strategic plan, which condenses five previous priorities into three targeted focus areas: Student Well-being, Learning Opportunities, and building Trust across the community.

A Beautiful Place To Live

The Issaquah School District is located just 17 miles from the heart of downtown Seattle and close to offices of major employers, including Amazon, Starbucks, Microsoft, Costco, Facebook, and Google. Our beautiful location in East King County is removed from the hustle and bustle of the city, but close enough to visit regularly. It also provides easy access to SeaTac airport, local sports venues, as well as skiing, hiking, and other outdoor activities in the Cascade Mountains.

A Beautiful Place To Learn

The ISD’s 27 schools are located across 110 square miles and within seven cities. Our schools educate nearly 18,500 students, with an increasingly diverse population as our region continues to grow and flourish.Our schools have high levels of parental involvement, with most of our Parent-Teacher-Student Associations having close to 100 percent membership. While our schools are always academically celebrated, their true character shines through the passion, compassion, creativity, and diverse interests of students and staff.

The School Board will hold a special meeting on June 9, 2026 from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. The meeting will be called to order at 5:30 PM and the Board will immediately go into Executive Session, expected to last 2 hours. The Board will then call the meeting back to order to adjourn at 7:30 PM.

 

The Issaquah School Board and Superintendent Tow-Yick will be present to review the performance of a public employee pursuant to RCW 42.30.110(1)(g). This session will be held in person at the Administration Center (5150 220th Ave. SE, Issaquah, WA 98029). This session is expected to last 2 hours and end at 7:30 PM.

 

Executive Sessions are not open to the public and no action will be taken.
