The Issaquah School District

Located in East King County, our 27 schools are positioned across 110 square miles and within seven municipalities. More than 19,500 students are currently enrolled in our district.

The Issaquah School District is educating the innovators, entrepreneurs and civic leaders of tomorrow. Students in our district repeatedly score within the top five percent on state and national standardized tests, but our teachers aim for more. They help create passionate lifelong learners who want to achieve their personal and professional potential in a rapidly changing world.

Our district has grown with the region as it has transformed during the past 100 years from sleepy mining towns to the heart of a vibrant economic and cultural region. More than 18,500 students are now enrolled in the district’s 27 schools, which cover a span of 110 square miles and seven municipalities.

The district serves a generally upper middle-class community that is becoming increasingly ethnically diverse. Residents lead and work at local corporate giants such as Microsoft, Costco, Starbucks, Amazon, Google and Boeing. It’s no surprise that community members here are exceptionally tech-savvy and involved in local education in a sophisticated way. We enjoy incredible levels of parental involvement and most of our schools have 100% PTSA membership. The community is highly engaged with us as business members help shape career curriculum, and voters consistently pass school finance ballot measures.

Our schools offer well-rounded curriculum and students are able to excel in highly capable, International Baccalaureate and Advanced Placement programs, explore interest-based and real world learning at our new innovative high school and have opportunities to take career and technical classes. District teachers are respected professionals: 90% of community members have rated them “excellent” in ongoing polling and 60% of staff hold master's or doctorate degrees.

While the ISD is academically celebrated, our true character shines through the passion, compassion, creativity and diverse interests of our students and staff.

Our Vision

All students thrive as they engage in meaningful learning that unlocks their passion and potential to positively impact the world.

Our Mission

Our students will be prepared for and eager to accept the academic, occupational, personal and practical challenges of life in a dynamic global environment.

Municipal Partners

The Issaquah School District includes residents of seven municipalities: Bellevue, Issaquah, Newcastle, Preston, Renton, Sammamish and unincorporated King County. We pursue opportunities to partner with local city and government leaders and work together in ways that best serve the community.

OSPI

The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) in collaboration with educators, students, families, local communities, business, labor, and government, is the primary agency charged with overseeing K-12 education in Washington state.

Led by State School Superintendent Chris Reykdal, OSPI works with the state’s 295 school districts to administer basic education programs and implement education reform on behalf of more than one million public school students.
