Reminder: Back-to-School Resource Fair on August 12

As a reminder, ISD students and families are invited to the Back-to-School Resource Fair, on August 12, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Clark Elementary School, 335 1st Ave. S.E., Issaquah.

Families who plan to attend are asked to register, to help us plan for attendee needs. The event offers new and gently used clothing, school supplies for students in need, medical and sports physical appointments, support completing forms, and additional resources.

Hosted in partnership with the Community Clothing Closet and the Issaquah Schools Foundation, the Back-to-School Resource Fair is aimed at ensuring all enrolled ISD students are equipped with the essentials they need to start the new school year confidently and prepared for success. 

District staff will offer support completing forms such as the Enrollment Verification Process (EVP), the application for Free and Reduced Price Meals, and athletic registration in FinalForms.

Additional resources at the fair will include the Issaquah Food Bank, the Circle, Cultural Bridges, The Garage, King County Library System and the City of Issaquah Recreation team. Also joining us are representatives from the districtwide Special Education PTSA; SCOPE (Supportive Community Outreach, Programs and Engagement); ARC of King County, Department of Vocational Rehabilitation; Youth Eastside Services (YES); Friends of Youth; King County Metro; Influence the Choice; and Care Solace.

We're excited to share that storytellers from King County Library System will share stories in Spanish and Mandarin. Storytimes will include:

• 12-12:30 p.m.: Spanish
• 12:30-1 p.m.: Mandarin
• 2-2:30 p.m.: Spanish
• 2:30-3 p.m. Mandarin

Community Clothing Closet Seeks Volunteers

During the event, the Community Clothing Closet will provide clothing for students in kindergarten through 12^th grade. The nonprofit organization’s volunteers will collect donations, sort and hang clothes, and set up for clothing distribution. 

“We need plenty of volunteers to help make this a success,” said Angela Dahrea, the clothing closet’s Director of Community Engagement and Co-Founder. “Please consider how you would like to help and click on the appropriate link below to see shifts and sign up.”

Three options to sign up to help:

• Friday, August 7 – Use this form to sign up to set up and help sort donations
• Monday, August 10 and Tuesday, August 11 – Use this form to sign up to help receive donations and sort and hang clothing
• Wednesday, August 12 (PLEASE NOTE: This volunteer day is for adults 19 years of age and older ONLY).  Use this form to sign up to help with the clothing distribution during the event.

Additionally, on August 10, the clothing closet is accepting donations of new or gently used clothing from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Clark Elementary. Read more about the types of clothing that will be accepted (and what is not accepted) on the organization's website.
