Budget Update: Week of March 27, 2023

At the March 23 School Board meeting, Chief of Finance and Operations Martin Turney gave a brief budget update to the board members.
Turney said that our enrollment numbers for kindergarten are currently low. The district is continuing outreach to increase registrations. Other updates included:
- On March 23, the Legislature released the Senate budget proposal, which includes an inflationary factor for salary at 3.7% for 2023-24.
- The state's budget proposal also includes an increase in the excess cost multiplier for special education pursuant to Senate Bill 5311. Our staff are working to determine how that would impact the ISD financially.
- The house budget proposal is expected early in the week of March 27.

The budget will be discussed again at the April 27 School Board meeting.
