Capital Projects Oversight Committee Reviews Levy and Project Updates

The district’s Capital Projects Oversight Committee met on September 18, 2025, to review updates on past and current levy projects, discuss early planning for the 2026 Critical Repairs Levy, and hear an update on the New High School project. Staff members shared a presentation, which is available for review.

Staff reported that nearly all 2018 Critical Repairs Levy projects are complete, with only a small number of projects deferred and funding reserved should those needs arise. Work continues under the 2022 Critical Repairs Levy, supporting ongoing maintenance and repair needs across district facilities.

The committee received an overview of the proposed 2026 Critical Repairs Levy. Planned investments are focused on key areas such as safety and security improvements, roof repairs, HVAC and plumbing systems, sports fields and other facility upgrades.

Staff also shared an update on the New High School project. The district submitted a Major Amendment application to the City in July 2025, and design revisions are ongoing. The project remains on track to begin construction in early 2026, with an anticipated opening in August 2027.

The preliminary project budget is approximately $146 million, including construction, soft costs and contingency.

Committee members discussed early priorities for the 2026 levy and shared input on construction market conditions, including labor availability, material costs and supply chain considerations. The committee also discussed potential risks and opportunities related to the New High School project and the importance of clear communication and planning as the district prepares for the next levy cycle.

The committee will next meet on December 16, 2025, and again on February 11, 2026
