FAQ: What does the renewal Educational Programs and Operations Levy pay for?

Between now and the Special Election on April 26, we’ll share frequently asked questions and answers about the three propositions on the ballot. Today, we’re answering the question “What does the renewal Educational Programs and Operations Levy pay for?”

The EP&O Replacement Levy represents 15.6% of the district’s revenue. It will continue funding for student services, academic programs and support services. These include day-to-day school operations not fully funded by the state.

  • Student and Classroom Services such as nurses, mental health counseling services, equity programs, an expanded high school schedule, Positive Behavior/Social-Emotional Support (PBSES) coaches, extracurricular activities and athletics, educator salaries and health benefits and more.
  • Academic Programs such as Special Education, Multilingual/English Language Learners, the Highly Capable program, Summer School, Early Learning and more.
  • Support Services such as safety and security, custodial services, building maintenance and repairs, grounds and playground maintenance and more.
  • Student Transportation, including driver salaries, bus maintenance and fuel.
