Special Services

Families and caregivers are invited to join the Special Services team at several events in March. We look forward to seeing you!

March 9, ARC of King County

5:30-7 p.m., Virtually on Microsoft Teams

Join The Arc of King County’s Rachel Nemhauser, Community and Family Support Program Manager, and Jae Kim, MSW, Information and Resource Coordinator, for an exploration of services available in King County and Washington State for people covering the array of community resources for students with Developmental Disabilities and their families. This informative and informal conversation is a great opportunity to find out what help is available, and to get your questions answered regarding resources through ARC, local community resources and DDA (waivers", respite care, therapies, behavior support, etc).

March 16, Financial Strategies & Estate Planning

5:30-7 p.m., Virtually on Microsoft Teams

The Special Services Department is hosting a presentation for parents of students with disabilities on the topic of Financial Strategies and Estate Planning.  Our presenters are Sheldon Sweeny, from Snider Financial Group and Jerimy Kirschner Managing Partner of Jerimy Kirschner & Associates PLLC.  There are three Phases of Family Life, based on age, for a child with special needs: Pre-Guardianship, Post-Guardianship, and Independent Living. Each phase has its own unique financial challenges. However, with proper planning, parents/guardians can hopefully find peace, knowing that their child’s financial well-being is protected throughout their life span as well as in the event of an unforeseen life change. We will discuss the resources available to you and have an open conversation where you can ask questions and/or share life experiences.
