Join the ISD & ParentWiser Book Club Workshop

upcoming events

The Issaquah School District Family Partnership team, led by Lorna Gilmour, in collaboration with Issaquah PTSA Council ParentWiser, is seeking parents interested in participating in a Book Club Workshop for the 2026-27 school year.

The featured book will be "Never Enough: When Achievement Culture Becomes Toxic — and What We Can Do About It," by Jennifer Breheny Wallace.

"Never Enough" explores how today’s intense “achievement culture” places overwhelming pressure on children and families, contributing to rising anxiety, burnout, and loss of self-worth. Drawing on research and interviews with parents, educators, and psychologists, the book highlights the importance of helping children develop a sense of belonging and intrinsic value beyond their accomplishments, while offering practical strategies to support resilience, confidence, and well-being.

We will have an initial welcome and introduction meetings in May, please attend the one that works best for your schedule:

  • May 18, 6:30 - 8 p.m., at ISD Admin Building
  • May 21, 10:00 - 11:30 a.m., at ISD Admin Building
  • May 21, 1 - 2:30 p.m., at ISD Admin Building
