Local Levy Dollars Cover 16% of District Budget
On February 10, 2026, our community will vote on three renewal levies that fund essential educational services not covered by the state.
The current levy measures, which voters approved in 2022, expire in 2026. Renewing provides funding for schools through 2030. These are not new taxes.
There is a significant gap between what the state funds for K–12 education and what students in the Issaquah School District need to thrive. State and federal dollars cover only the basic education required by law, but they do not fully fund essential staff, special education services, mental health supports, transportation operations, technology, or student enrichment opportunities such as advanced coursework, dual language, athletics and activities, career and technical education and more.
Local, voter-approved levies help bridge the gap
The Educational Programs & Operations (EP&O) Levy, Capital Levy, and Transportation Levy allow the district to maintain programs and services that families expect, and that students rely on every day.
Levy dollars stay in our community. They support safe, welcoming, well-maintained schools and ensure students have access to the tools, staff, and learning environments they need for success. The EP&O Levy alone funds 16.6% of the district’s general fund, representing a strong community commitment to local public education. The district’s other revenue sources are the state (67.8%); local fees, tuition and gifts (9.4%); other financing sources (3.8%); federal funding (2.1%); and other funding (0.4%).
The February levy proposals are renewals of existing levies, not new taxes, and help maintain a stable combined local school tax rate.
