While initial site work at the New High School began in April, the official groundbreaking ceremony was on April 24. Construction activity at the site along 228th Avenue SE will continue through the opening of the school in fall of 2027, and will include some impacts in the surrounding area, including traffic and noise. The project includes approximately $5.8 million in roadway improvements and transportation mitigation measures at 228th Avenue SE and SE 43rd Way, near the Issaquah-Sammamish city boundary.

We will share regular updates about community impacts on the New High School construction website, under the "Community Impacts" tab. The information is intended to help keep nearby neighbors and community members informed. Dates and activities may change due to weather, material deliveries, labor availability and other project needs.

This week's construction activities include continued clearing and grading, general construction traffic including trucks hauling logs, and grinding of stumps and slash as well as general construction noise.

For future updates, visit the New High School construction website and click on "Community Impacts."

Once complete, the New High School will serve about 700 students in an 83,600-square-foot facility with 26 classrooms, including pathway labs and science/flex labs. The design includes collaborative learning hubs, a commons area, a library research space, outdoor learning spaces and a student market, as well as a multipurpose field and track for future community use.
