Strategic Planning Update: Week of March 20, 2023

General Announcement Icon for Announcements

The School Board will meet for a work study session about the district’s ongoing strategic planning process before the regular board meeting on Thursday, March 23. The work study session begins at 4 p.m. During the regular session board meeting following the work study session, the board will also review and discuss a draft of the strategic plan. Both sessions are open to the public and will happen at the Administration Building, 5150 220th Ave. S.E.

As part of the work to create a three-year strategic plan, the district hosted a ThoughtExchange from March 2-15 about a draft vision statement. The ideas shared during that ThoughtExchange are part of the feedback being presented to the board members for their consideration. The district has an existing mission statement as part of its Ends for Students (goals) but doesn’t currently have a vision statement.

The strategic plan will help the district prioritize work with a set of focused activities and actions designed to improve the student and family experience. In case you missed it, Superintendent Heather Tow-Yick and Board President Sydne Mullings recently shared a video about why a vision statement is important
