Supporting Students, Staff, Community During Middle East War
With the war unfolding in the Middle East, we want to reassure our students, families, staff and community members that we're thinking of and supporting you in this time of unrest and crisis. While the conflict in Israel and Gaza is happening across the globe, we are aware that it affects us locally. Our community members have family, friends and loved ones who are directly impacted.
The reports of documented atrocities may be disturbing to hear about or see in the news or social media. There are concerns that the escalation will spark a rise of antisemitic and Islamophobic incidents in our own community; there are also concerns that children could observe graphic videos on social media.
One of our unwavering commitments is to provide safe schools, where students feel they belong and are included. Our learning community is rich in diversity, and each student deserves the opportunity to thrive in our schools through safe and supportive learning environments.
We encourage our students and staff to reach out to a school counselor, administrator or staff member if there are issues or concerns about anything that might affect overall well-being or impede teaching and learning.
Below are some resources in support of our community that you may find helpful if your student asks questions and/or talks with you about the conflict in the Middle East.
