Last Friday, Sept. 16, we sent an invitation to opt in for text messages to all parent/guardian and staff mobile numbers in Family Access and Employee access. Any parent or guardian who missed this initial invitation text message can still opt in for text messages by sending a “yes” or “Y” to the number 67587 from a cell phone number that is already in Skyward Family Access. After texting “yes” or “Y” in reply to our initial invitation or 67587, you’ll receive a message back that says “You’re registered 4 SchoolMessenger notifications. …" If at any time you no longer want to receive our texts, you can text “STOP” to 67587 to cancel.
We sent this opportunity to opt in because this year, the district and our schools will send text messages using a service provided by SchoolMessenger. We are unable to send you text messages through SchoolMessenger unless you say that you want the messages, or “opt in” to indicate you want to receive our messages.
Texting via this system will be one of the district’s main methods of notifying staff and families about time-sensitive changes to our school day, such as cancellations or delays due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances. We will also continue to let families and staff know about changes to our school day by sending special bulletins through email and by posting to our websites and official district social media channels.
If you are not sure which cell phone number you have listed for yourself as a parent/guardian in your account, you can check by logging in on Family Access. If you need to change the cell phone number listed there, please contact the registrar at your student’s school. (After updating your number, please send the word "Yes" via text message to 67587 from your new number).
