Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we begin the new school year, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks for your continued support and understanding. Ensuring the safety and efficiency of our school bus routes is a top priority, and we appreciate your patience as we make any necessary adjustments.
During the first few weeks of school, we kindly ask for your patience as students, families, and drivers adjust to new routes, drop-offs, pick-ups, and neighborhood traffic. There may be a grace period of a few minutes for bus arrivals and departures as everyone settles into the new routines.
Why Adjustments Are Necessary:
- Student safety: We are constantly reviewing and optimizing our routes to ensure the safest possible travel for our students. This includes considering factors such as traffic patterns, road conditions, and the locations of bus stops.
- Efficiency: Adjusting routes helps us minimize travel time and fuel consumption, ensuring that buses run on time and reduce environmental impact.
- Changes in family/student locations: As new families move into the district and others relocate, we need to update our routes to accommodate these changes and ensure that all students have access to transportation.
What to Expect:
- Communication: We will keep you informed of any significant changes to bus routes or schedules. Please check your text (ensure you are opted in to receive our texts on the number in your student's Family Access account), email and our school district’s website regularly for updates.
- Feedback: We value your input. If you have any concerns or suggestions regarding the bus routes, please contact Transportation via email. Initial requests will be addressed by the Transportation team.
- Temporary Delays: As we implement these changes, there may be temporary delays. We ask for your understanding and patience during this period as we work to improve the system.
- You can download the Versatrans "MyStop" App, which will allow you to view the estimated arrival time for your student's bus. Information on the app is on our website under "Buses."
- Bus passes will be available after September 20,* 2024.
- "E-link" opened for viewing the 2024-2025 bus routes on August 22. Please go to the district website to view directions for logging into e-Link. We highly encourage you to log in as soon as possible. Do not wait until the evening before school starts just in case there is an issue with your login or finding your route. It takes time to correct issues, and we do not want there to be a delay in your student’s ability to ride the bus. You can find login directions and the link on the Transportation page.
We understand that adjustments to routes can be challenging, but they are essential for optimizing our transportation system and ensuring that all students arrive at school safely and on time. Our drivers are diligently maintaining bus counts to document the number of students on each route, which helps us make informed adjustments as needed.
Thank you for your patience and support. Together, we can ensure a smooth and successful transition into the new school year.
Sincerely,
Your Transportation Team
*Please note: An earlier version of this message included the wrong date for when we will begin issuing bus passes. Bus passes will be available after September 20.
