Update: SE May Valley Road Bridge Project

General Announcement Icon for Announcements

King County officials shared two updates with our team about the 15-Mile Creek Bridge replacement project, and we are passing the information along to families. We originally shared last week about the King County Roads Division project, which will close Southeast May Valley Road just west of Issaquah-Hobart Road Southeast entirely for an estimated 10-12 weeks. If you missed that announcement, it's available on our website.

The updates are:

  • The project team informed county staff that they will utilize lane restrictions beginning on June 2 and through June 12. The lane restrictions will cause traffic delays, but the team has details about our bus routes, and will work to minimize impacts to bus and school traffic if they can.
  • King County and its contractor are doing their best to complete the project by the end of the day on August 23, but it is still possible that the work could be delayed due to weather, or the availability of crew members, machines and other equipment availability.

The complete road closure is expected to begin at 7 a.m. on Monday, June 15.  Families and staff living in the May Valley area or commuting through this area should expect traffic impacts. Our Transportation Department will re-route impacted buses around the construction. Pick-up and drop-off locations will remain the same. Staff from the Transportation Department will communicate any route timing changes directly to families on the affected routes in early June.
