Issaquah Teachers: "On Fire" for New Learning

Two teachers talk at the "Ignite" training in July

Last week, 110 teachers and school leaders came together for a three-day summer institute called "Ignite." Over the three days Ignite educators explored Universal Design for Learning (UDL), a K-12 framework to guide teachers in their quest to develop expert learners.

The Ignite program builds upon the Digital Learning Experience, which took place over the last two years as we implemented our new technology levy.

"Students are coming to me with different needs and ways that they need to be taught. We constantly have to be re-taught new strategies, new ways to teach. So that's why I'm here. And it's been amazing," shared Rebecca Posten, third grade teacher at Newcastle Elementary.

These teachers will support professional development at their schools and lead learning workshops and classroom visits to model and share their experiences with colleagues.
