Superintendent Shares Update About Bond, Next Steps

Dear Issaquah Community:

We asked voters to consider a School Construction & Modernization Bond in yesterday’s election. With initial returns of 49.4% “yes,” it appears that the measure will not be approved. Bonds require 60% voter approval to pass.

I want to thank the community members, alumni, staff, labor partners, families, caregivers and students who studied our buildings, enrollment and student needs as part of the Bond Advisory Committee. Thank you to the many PTA/PTSAs, business leaders and community members who engaged in our meetings and reached out for more information. I also want to share my sincere appreciation for the Volunteers for Issaquah Schools organization, which spent countless hours ensuring our community had the information about the bond and got out to vote.

While we had hoped for a different outcome, we understand this may be a challenging time for supporting school funding initiatives. We deeply value your engagement and will continue to work together to find solutions that reflect our shared commitment to supporting our students.

Thank you to our School Board members for their leadership on this bond measure. Staff and the School Board will convene to discuss next steps, and more information will be shared as it becomes available. Our goal remains the same – to provide excellent learning environments for students and staff, and we are unwavering in our commitment to this.
