4120 - School Support Organizations

The District encourages the formation of a Parent-Teacher-Student Association (PTA/PTSA) at each school building for the purpose of providing an opportunity through which parents, teachers, and students may unite their efforts and interests to enhance the school program. Groups may only use PTA/PTSA if they are registered with the National Congress of Parents and Teachers and the Washington State PTA.

Booster Clubs and/or special interest organizations may be formed to support and strengthen specific activities conducted within the school or District. All such groups must receive the approval of the school principal and the superintendent or their designee in order to be recognized by the District as a Booster organization.

Staff participation, membership, cooperation, and support are encouraged in school support organizations, but staff members, including paid coaches, shall not hold positions of signature authority in those organizations located at their school.
