6802 - Care of District Facilities

The District shall provide for an adequate and trained staff of custodians and maintenance personnel. The operation and care of each facility and its equipment shall be the major responsibility of the custodians assigned to it.

The Superintendent/designee (s) shall be responsible for the supervision of all custodians. The principal shall, through the staff and students, seek to maintain as clean and pleasing an environment as possible. Procedures shall be established for the periodic inspection of school buildings to ensure that each has adequate light, heating and ventilation and that the premises are clean and sanitary and conform to current fire, safety and health codes. Staff shall ensure that buildings, grounds, equipment and furniture are not abused. Students or non-students who abuse school property may be disciplined and required to pay for the damage incurred.

The superintendent shall establish procedures for the investigation and reporting of damage or loss and shall initiate action to collect for damages. A student's grades, transcript or diploma may be withheld until restitution is made.
