One-to-One computing offers many benefits to our modern-day classroom and learner. 

Issaquah School District strives to have classrooms that provide Digital Learning Experiences where ALL students can access, engage with, create, and produce using technological tools have agency and ownership over their learning, and use technology to engage with the world in meaningful ways. 

School-issued laptops already have required district software such as web filtering, screen monitoring, special applications and secure browsers for state and federal testing. The district is unable to install these programs on personal laptops.  

Consistent district devices offer us the ability to support and manage the hardware and safe use of the equipment is greatly enhanced when school devices are used. Teachers can focus on instruction, not troubleshooting technical issues. Technology specialists in schools are unable to troubleshoot technical issues with personal laptops. 

The technical specifications of school laptops are compatible with the curriculum and productivity apps that we use to support student learning. 

Student laptops are Dell laptops running Windows. The student laptops include a 13-inch anti-glare screen.

Laptop checkout will be completed at school during your student’s first week of school. Information about laptop checkout will be sent to you directly from the school that your student attends.

Each school has a technology specialist who is responsible for fixing laptops. Depending on the issue, the student may be issued a loaner laptop until their laptop is repaired. If your child's laptop isn't working, they should talk with one of their teachers or school office staff who may direct them to the appropriate support.

The fee to replace a lost or stolen laptop is $670.  Scholarships are available for families who may need financial help.

The district will cover the costs of unintentional damage and/or expected wear and tear.

Personal insurance for the laptop is optional. If you would like to purchase optional insurance for your laptop, you may do so through one of the many companies that offer laptop and device insurance online such as Worth Ave. Group (https://www.worthavegroup.com/product/laptop-insurance/).  

If selecting coverage, please refer to the replacement costs table for the appropriate value of your student laptop. The serial number is listed on the equipment. 

Families under financial hardship should talk with their school principal about outstanding fines. 

Laptops will be returned at the end of the school year giving the I.T. staff time to refresh the laptops for the new school year.

Remind your student that the laptop requires careful handling and should be treated with care.

Develop routines to keep the laptop out of harm's way. 

• Return laptop to the backpack when not in use or charging
• Do not store the laptop on the floor
• Transport the laptop to and from school in a laptop sleeve and/or a backpack designed to carry a laptop.

Avoid bending and stepping on the charging cable.

Not all home printers will be able to connect to your district computer. Most modern and common name brand printers (within the last 2 years) will work, but there is no guarantee.  

if the home printer's driver is natively present in the Windows store - the printer can be self-installed by the student. For example, the Windows PCL6 default driver will work for many printers.

Wireless Printers

1. Turn on the printer.
2. Type “Printers & Scanners” in the search bar.
3. Click “Add a printer or scanner”
4. Once your printer is located, click “add device”
5. After the printer is connected, try printing a test page.  

USB Connected Printers

1. Turn on your printer and locate the printer’s USB cord.
2. Turn on your computer and login to your student account.
3. Connect your printer to the computer using the USB cord.  
4. The computer will search for and automatically install the printer’s driver to the student device if available.
5. Follow the installation prompts or find it on your wireless network.
6. After the printer is installed, try printing a test page.
