Summer Resources

four elementary age students reading outside on lawn

On this page we're sharing some ideas for supporting your student's learning while they are away from school this summer. These ISD supported digital resources can be accessed through student Clever accounts. Kindergarten through 5th grade students will have access to Clever until August 2, 2024. Here are a selection of optional resources for the summer.

Top ideas for supporting your elementary student’s learning:

  1. Encourage independent reading: As students engage with high interest books they build knowledge, practice skills and establish great habits.  Don't shy away from allowing a mix of picture books, graphic novels, informational books on topics of interest, and chapter books (when appropriate).

  2. i-Ready My Path & Learning Games: Your student can log in to i-Ready from home through Clever and complete i-Ready lessons and enjoy the learning games.  All students have lessons selected by the i-Ready program or their teacher, ready to go, all the time.  Spending 30-50 minutes each week in each subject can improve achievement.  i-Ready can be accessed at home on a web-enabled browser (see iPad directions below) from September through the first week of August!

Watch this video that shows how you can use i-Ready with your student to support learning and track your student's progress.  Family Center provides extensive information about i-Ready for families, including videos and documents in multiple languages.

Note on using iPads with i-Ready:  Older iPads may not support i-Ready; in order to use i-Ready you must download BOTH the i-Ready app and the Clever App, then access i-Ready through the Clever app.

  3. Learning Ally: We are very excited to announce access to Learning Ally, a tool that gives qualified students access to audiobooks, matched with written text – a highly effective way to promote independent reading for students experiencing reading difficulties.
