2255 - Alternative Learning Experience Programs

Alternative learning experience (ALE) means an approved online course for grades seven through twelve (7-12) that is a delivery method of basic education and is provided in whole or in part independently from a regular classroom setting or schedule. ALE courses are supervised, monitored, assessed, evaluated and documented by authorized District staff or contractors. Each ALE course must be provided in accordance with a written student learning plan and implemented pursuant to this Regulation, 2255P, and WAC 392-121-182. ALE courses will be accessible to all students, including students with disabilities.

The District has designated in 2255P, by title, one or more District officials responsible for overseeing the District’s ALE courses and programs, including approving specific ALE courses or programs, monitoring compliance with 2255P and WAC 392-121-182, providing the required annual reporting to the District’s Board, and ensuring that all other reporting requirements are met.

State law governs ALE courses and programs and may be amended from time to time. To the extent there is a conflict between this Regulation and WAC 392-121-182 or any other state law, state law controls.
