Tips and Resources for Families New to US Public School Education
For families unfamiliar with the US public school system, staff will provide a general overview of the school day, lunch, transportation, sports, and after-school activities (6-12), learning platforms, and communications with school. Families can ask questions at the end of the sessions.
Tips and Resources for Middle School Families new to public US Middle School system*
*This event is for families of current Middle School students. 5th grade transition night hosted in January is designed for families with a child entering middle school next year.
Tips and Resources for High School Families new to public US High School system*
*This event is for families of current High School students. 8th grade transition night hosted in January is designed for families with a child entering high school next year.
Tips and Resources for Elementary School Families new to public US Elementary School system*
Topics include: school and classroom expectations, behavior expectations, grading and/or assessments, homework, lunch, transportation, school supplies and communicating with the school and teachers. The presentation is designed to answer questions and help families in the ISD that are unfamiliar with US public school systems (not including COVID updates and protocols).
Middle and High school topics will also include after school sports and clubs and technology information.
